Some telecom companies are getting into preferential partnerships with websites and apps in violation of net-neutrality. What this means is that either your favourite app or website might not be available for access by a particular telecom provider or that data usage would be charged at a higher rate or your internet speed would be throttled when you visit them. On the other hand, the so-called "partners" to this ecosystem will reap undue benefits because these websites or apps could possibly be accessed for free or at higher speeds than others.

 

This might make you use apps and sites that you did not like or switch telecom providers just to get access to what you want.

 

What can you do about this?

 

Surfers/users need to do everything possible to make sure that the internet stays neutral. Join this campaign to support net neutrality, and to tell TRAI that you oppose a regulated and telecom-controlled Internet.
