The Indian economy is likely to grow at somewhere between 8.1% and 8.5% next year and "seems poised for propulsion", the government's Economic Survey for 2014-15 released on Friday said.
Despite a shortfall in projected tax collections, the current financial year's fiscal deficit target will be met through a squeeze on expenditure, says the Economic Survey.
Stalled projects worth Rs 8.8 lakh crore, or 7% of GDP, are holding up investments in the economy, impacting corporate balance sheets and public sector banks which have extended loans.
The Economic Survey has stressed on the inefficiencies in delivering subsidies to needy sections across the country and called for rationalization through widespread use of technology.
