Local police said on Wednesday's blast, near the center of Geilo in southern Norway, caused the evacuation of some people from nearby houses and closed a main highway.
Police say they have also asked a school in the town center not to allow pupils to leave the school premises until further notice.
Explosives experts were called to the scene to help police in their investigation.
