Ara Arularasu, SP, special investigation division, Special Branch CID, was selected for the chief minister's award. M Pandian, SP, Special Branch CID, was also named for the chief minister's medal.
Both of them helped nab three Al-Umma men -- 'Police' S Fakkruddin, Bilal Malik and Panna Ismail.
Additional superintendent of police, prohibition enforcement wing (PEW), Tiruppur, L Balaji Saravanan, inspectors of police, special branch, P Arockiaraj (Namakkal), M Dinesh Kumar (Thuraiyur in Tiruchi), S Syed Babu (Anupparpalayam in Tiruppur), S Sivasubbu (Panrutti in Cuddalore), M Kanagasabathy (Ukkadam police station, Coimbatore city), J K Gopi (Peelamedu police station, Coimbatore), K T Rajan Babu (Thilagarthidal police station, Madurai) and S Chandramohan (Variety Hall Road police station, Coimbatore city) and sub-inspector of police, Devakottai police station, Sivaganga, S Meenakshi Sundaram.
The police personnel were selected based on their excellent performance in criminal investigation and their commitment and dedication to the work.
Each of them will receive Rs 5,000 and a gold medal weighing eight grams.
The Tamil Nadu government has also announced a list of police officers to be honoured with the President's police medal for their distinguished service.
Additional commissioner of police, South Chennai, Abhash Kumar, inspector-general of police, railways, Seema Agarwal and additional superintendent of police, vigilance and anti-corruption, Chennai, P Saraswathi were selected for their distinguished service.
