Chennai police establish identity of man, woman who fell from Adyar flyover

CHENNAI: The Chennai police have established the identity of a man and a woman who fell from the Adyar flyover while they were travelling on a motorcycle on Tuesday afternoon.

The man suffered serious injuries and was declared brain dead. The woman, who didn't suffer any serious injuries, escaped from the accident site immediately.

Police identified the man as Ramesh, 25, of Elangovan Street, R A Puram. He was a painter. The woman has been identified as Deepa, a friend of his wife, Rosy.

Deepa is employed as an assistant at a private clinic in Mandaveli and stays in the same area.

Deepa, who escaped from the spot soon after the accident, informed Ramesh's wife about the accident only at 9pm. Later, Ramesh's friend, who came to Government General Hospital, identified him.

When the police interrogated Deepa, she told them that she had been going to Thiruvanmiyur to buy clothes and Ramesh had offered her a lift.

Deepa told them that she had escaped from the spot as she panicked over the accident.
