Wahab Belim, chairman of SGCCI's railway committee said, "We were hoping for Acche Din to come. But, unfortunately the hike in passenger fares points towards the Burre Din (Bad Days) for the common man travelling in the trains. UPA government has not taken such a harsh move increasing the passenger fares by 14.2 per cent"
Belim said, "There will be an extra burden on the passengers travelling in the trains, be it second class or the first class passengers"
Meanwhile, the Railway Minister's announcement for passenger fare hike and freight fare hike went viral on the social media sites including Facebook and Whatsapp. The users were not happy with decision of increasing the railway fares.
Tejas Patel, a bank employee said, "There should have been a conservative hike in passenger fares. But, 14.2 per cent is something very huge and seen as a great financial burden on those travelling in trains. It is not acceptable"
