"On Monday, our troops at Amudia acted on specific intelligence and stopped Biswas around 7.25am when he was near the international border. A thorough search led to the seizure of 17 gold biscuits. The haul is valued at nearly Rs 54 lakh. The South Bengal Frontier of the BSF has seized more than 53 kg of gold and apprehended 30 smugglers this year," a senior official said.

KOLKATA: Early on Monday, troops of the 152 Bn of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized gold weighing 1.985 kg near the Amudia BOP in Swarupnagar, North 24-Parganas. Sandeep Biswas, an Indian national was apprehended and charged with smuggling in the gold. He has been handed over to the Swarupnagar police station.
