BATHINDA: Congress spokesperson Sukhpal Khaira has accused Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his daughter-in-law Harsimrat Badal for snooping upon Harsimrat's elder daughter while she voted for the first time on April 30.

He said the snooping implied lack of faith and an attempt to curb a voter's independence.

In a statement, Khaira said the snooping has raised eyebrows and questions. "It appears as if the senior Badal and Harsimrat Kaur do not have confidence on their young voter or is it yet another attempt of the Badals to curb the independence of a voter?" He asked if the Badals were afraid that the young Harkirat Kaur may have begun to hold an independent opinion.

Khaira said it has also put question mark over the fairness and integrity of the polling staff deputed at village Badal. "Why did they allow the elderly to snoop upon at Harkirat Kaur?" asked Khaira, adding the CEO Punjab must clarify whether it is not against norms.
