A senior UD ministry official said that the communication from Delhi government came on Thursday after a reminder went from Nirman Bhawan seeking a status report. "Now there are several options for locating a house and this can be done by UD ministry, Delhi government or even by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)," said a senior government official.
He added that usually Delhi government has the responsibility of finding an accommodation for its chief minister, other ministers and officials.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that now Kejriwal wants only one flat in the place of his earlier request for two flats - one above the other. UD ministry officials were maintaining that getting such two flats was tough for them.
Moreover, they were of the view that until the two DDA duplex houses were surrendered officially by Delhi government and without a fresh request specifying the type of flat, the process to identify a house could not begin.
After TOI had first reported the allotment of two duplex houses having 5 bedrooms each, AAP supporters and sympathizers had opposed the idea of Aam Aadmi chief minister moving to such big houses. Bowing to the pressure from his supporters Kejriwal had declined to move to the new house.
