Addressing a batch of Dy SPs who passed out of the Karnataka Police Academy after a rigorous training, CM said it has become trend in the parts of the state for the people to take law into their hand in the guise of enforcing morality. "Who allowed and authorized them to indulge in such illegal activities" he asked, urging the police officials to deal firmly with the moral policing activities and organized crimes.
He said Karnataka police has it's own history and known for dealing sternly with illegalities. But in the recent past its image has received a jolt and dented and this has to be rectified and set right, he suggested.
Urging the new police officers to abide by the constitution and resist all kinds of pressures. "Though women are joining police force in the state, their number is not enough and there is a need to carry out special recruitments to increase the number of women in police department" he pointed out and disclosed that he has given a green signal to recruit 8000 policemen and the process will start soon.
Referring to the facilities provided to the police, he said despite police department having an exclusive housing corporation only 40 % of the police have the housing facilities where as the others make their own arrangements to reside. "My endeavor is to increase this percentage of housing facility from 40 to 80% in the coming five years" he said, adding that he is determined to provide good facilities to the police.
