Priyanka Gandhi says Centre could increase LPG cap soon: Congress leaders

LUCKNOW: If the Congress leaders in Uttar Pradesh (UP) are to be believed, Priyanka Gandhi is also of the view that the central government should increase the cap on the number of subsidized LPG per domestic connection from six per annum to 12.

Priyanka, who was on two-day visit to her mother Congress president Sonia Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency Rae Bareli on Friday, shared her feelings with the Congress workers who came to meet her for redressal of their problems.

According to the Congress leaders present in the meeting, Priyanka told party workers that as a housewife she understands problems of the people and that the Centre is considering an increase the limit of subsidized LPG cylinders.

Priyanka said that her brother Rahul Gandhi, who is also Congress general secretary, will ask the government to provide some relief to the public. She said that she will ask her brother to take up the matter with the Prime Minister.

Earlier on Thursday, Rahul had also promised workers in his Lok Sabha constituency Amethi that he will speak to the government to hike the number of subsidized LPG cylinders, to at least one subsidized refill per month.
