Fireworks explode over Lego versions of the Petronas Towers and Kuala Lumpur Tower at Legoland Malaysia's opening.

Legoland Malaysia opened to a crowd of 10,000 over the weekend with dozens of rides and iconic 1:20-scale buildings fashioned from plastic.
The Lego paradise was built on 76 acres of former palm tree hills in southern Malaysia across the Straits of Johor from Singapore. It's expected to draw visitors from the city-state and other countries.
More than 50 million bricks were used in the theme park, which is divided into seven theme areas: the Beginning, Imagination, Lego Kingdom, Land of Adventure, Lego Technic, Lego City, and Miniland.
Miniland is the standout feature for its Lego versions of the Petronas Towers, the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, Singapore's One Fullerton, and the Great Wall of China.
The park also features moving trains, boats, and planes that carry little Lego passengers. Life-sized Lego models of people and animals dot walkways.
Legoland has over 40 rides and attractions like The Dragon roller coaster, a giant Lego castle, and a Duplo Playland. And yes, plenty of Lego merchandise.
